A Checklist of Essentials for Your Sun Mountain Golf Stand Bags
Posted by Dallas Golf on 24 Aug 2020
A golf bag like your Sun Mountain Golf Stand Bag is lightweight, easy, and comfortable to carry, and makes it possible for you to travel the course on foot. That liberates you from the need to play the course from the convenience of a golf cart, but it comes at a cost.
Yes, it will be light and comfortable, but it will in some way limit the amount you can carry. If you are making plans to play a course that you will walk on foot in the future, make sure you don’t push any of these essentials out of your stand bags.
Extra Golf Balls - It’s rare that a player finished a golf course with the first golf ball with which he or she started if it happens at all. Your level of skill will dictate how many spare golf balls you should bring along, and you know yourself best. However, keep this in mind. If you run out of golf balls, you may have to consider the day over. In that way, it’s basically impossible to bring too many. Bring what you know you need, and then an extra sleeve.
A Rangefinder - the first golfers couldn’t use rangefinders, but advances in technology have put modern golfers in touch with technology that has revolutionized the game. Many a great golfer has become even greater by using the tools at his or her disposal, and a rangefinder can do more than give you an effective estimate of the range. It can also help you determine which club to use for a stroke and why.
Tees - Just like golf balls, it’s terribly easy to run out of tees. You can lose tees or even break them during the course of play, and you just can’t get an effective swing with a driver or a wood without a good tee. Once they’re out, they’re out. Get as many as you know you need and then carry a few more - it’s not like they will expire.
Towels - Golfers carry towels so that they can dry their hands and club heads before they play. A wet grip can cause blisters, and a wet clubface (or a dirty clubface) can adversely affect your stroke. Wedges and irons, in particular, are prone to accumulated dirt, sand, and bits of grass on their faces. Use a towel to keep them clean between swings.
Pencils (and maybe a Marker) - Carry spare pencils or a sharpie marker with you in your golf bag because you play because you will need pencils for scoring. At the same time, if you want to mark balls or other equipment, a sharpie might be better for that. You can carry both, but you’ll definitely need pencils - and bring more than one!
A Glove, Band-Aids, or Athletic Tape (or All Three) - Many players improve their performance with a golf glove. If you prefer a glove, make sure you don’t forget yours. If you don’t wear gloves, make sure you bring bandages or athletic tape to cover cuts and blisters, should they form. You may never have to, but as they say, it’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Sunscreen - Spending a day out on the course means spending a day under the sun. Bringing sunscreen for protection will only make your experience that much more enjoyable.
Rain Gear - Just what constitutes rain gear depends on the perspective of the player. Some carry a jacket, some carry an umbrella in their bag, some people carry both and then a change of socks or other clothing. Just make sure you are prepared in the event of a downpour.
Hand Sanitizer - Keep your hands clean and ready to snack by keeping a handy little bottle of hand sanitizer packed away in your Sun Mountain golf stand bag.
Sustenance - Keep your energy up and be prepared for long stretches without a snack and beverage cart nearby by packing water and a few granola bars or other snacks that won’t spoil when out on the course.
You’re not doing yourself any favors if you don’t pair at least these essentials with your Sun Mountain Golf Stand Bags before you hit the course. There are many more pieces of gear and equipment that you might find valuable, and experience is the best teacher.
