About the VeloCore Technology of Fujikura Ventus Shafts

                       Fujikura Ventus

Fujikura, alongside other key players in the golf industry such as Mitsubishi, PING, and Titleist, has consistently plied the waters of technological innovation.

To that point, Fujikura Ventus shafts are among the most popular golf shafts in the world right now, and are touted as “the most trusted wood shaft by pros and golfers everywhere.”

This is no accident. Fujikura Ventus shafts boast some of the most impressive technology in the entire industry - and among the crowning technology of Ventus shafts is VeloCore technology.

So let’s talk about how this technology benefits these shafts, and what it offers.

What Fujikura VeloCore Technology Is

Fujikura VeloCore Technology is a multi-material bias-core construction technique that produces next-level stability, not only through transition but at the point of impact.

This multi-material bias core features full-length, ultra-high-modulus Pitch 70 ton carbon fiber, which is 150% stronger and more stable than T1100g, as well as 40 ton bias layers that deliver exceptional feel.

These two features make VeloCore technology not only remarkably strong and thin, while remaining stable, but also capable of delivering unrivalled feedback. Rarely before, if ever, have shafts been so stable, so strong, and so responsive.

This technology yields shafts that are optimized for stability and sensitivity, controlling shot dispersion and improving overall accuracy while increasing forgiveness, and boosting the number of on-center clubface strikes.

In fact, the enhanced stability offered by shafts with VeloCore technology, which reduces twist during impact, improves ball speed even on off-center hits.

Why It Matters:

Though this technology might sound somewhat innocuous on paper, it has remarkable effects in practice.

Fujikura shafts with this technology - like Fujikura Ventus shafts - offer the following benefits, among others.

  • Increase incidence of center-clubface strikes

Light, thin shafts tend to be less stable than their thicker counterparts. This causes a higher “CPM” or “cycles per minute” rating, which refers to the number of times a shaft oscillates (or vibrates) during a swing and at the point of impact.

The higher the CPM, the more noticeable the effect is of variability with respect to where the clubface strikes the ball - and how.

Shafts with a higher CPM rating tend to be less stable, and as a result, the higher the CPM rating, the more likely you are - even with an even, smooth swing - to strike the ball off-center, for instance with a slightly open or closed club face.

This is not optimal. Shafts made with Fujikura’s VeloCore technology are engineered for extreme stability, through transition and at the point of impact, converting more of your swings, even less-than-perfect swings, into center-clubface strikes.

  • VeloCore Boosts MOI

In golf, MOI, or “moment of inertia” refers to a body’s (in this case, a golf club head’s) tendency to resist angular acceleration.

In layman’s terms, the higher the MOI, the more forgiving the outfit it. Fujikura shafts featuring VeloCore Technology are optimized not only for stability but for exceptional MOI.

When you miss the center of the clubface, even ever so slightly, VeloCore technology helps to stabilize the clubhead. This stabilizing mechanism, in turn, increases MOI, resulting in greater forgiveness, even on mishits.

  • Increase Range, Tighten Dispersion

Due primarily to a reduction in clubface twist during the swing, VeloCore Technology stands to substantially increase the performance of players of all skill levels.

This not only improves stability, but minimizes the amount of energy lost during the swing sequence, which produces more consistent results, both in terms of range and shot dispersion.

Added stability through transition and at impact, paired with a higher incidence of on-center clubface strikes, equate to greater control over shot dispersion - for players of all skill level.

And, less energy lost preserves clubhead potential for the crucial moment of impact, increasing smash factor and optimizing energy transfer characteristics that translate to greater carry distance - also for players of all skill levels.

In short, shafts engineered with VeloCore Technology can help you drive farther and control shot dispersion.

Do All Fujikura Shafts Feature VeloCore?

No, not all Fujikura shafts have VeloCore Technology. If you’re physically looking at Fujikura shaft, look for a “VeloCore” stamp near the tip - that’s the calling card.

There are, however, several lines of Fujikura shafts that do include VeloCore Technology. These include but are not limited to Fujikura Ventus and Ventus TR shafts (for drivers and fairway woods), and Ventus HB shafts (for hybrids, utility clubs and driving irons) as well as Axiom iron shafts.

Uniting VeloCore with the Outstanding Technology of Fujikura Ventus Shafts

In addition to VeloCore Technology, Fujikura Ventus shafts feature a wide range of other technologically advanced innovations and features.

Among these are Pitch 70 Ton and 40 Ton carbon fiber composites, which themselves are used in VeloCore, and which are light, strong, and which improve stiffness, stability, and feedback.

Ventus Shafts also feature “Maximum Carbon Fiber Content” Technology, which consists of carbon fiber composites optimized for density, strength, weight, flexibility, and elasticity.

Ventus Shafts are also treated with a special Phantium Finish that, believe it or not, is a lightweight painting process that actually optimizes the shaft for weight savings by using ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight paints and clear coats.

From handle to tip, and thanks to these technologically advanced features, Fujikura Ventus shafts are optimized for balance, weight, strength, flexibility, and stability.
