XXIO (Pronounced zek-si-oh) is one of the world’s fastest growing premium golf equipment manufacturers. They have been in the golf business since 2000 and have been the #1 golf club brand in Japan for 17 straight years. XXIO is also currently the #1 brand in Korea and New Zealand. The brand falls under Dunlop Sports which owns Cleveland and Srixon as well.
Who is XXIO For?
XXIO targets players with moderate swing speeds. This means golfers who have a swing speed less than 95 MPH. This covers 54% of male goflers and 96% of female golfers. For golfers with 79 MPH or less swing speeds, the highest launching XXIO Prime is best. For golfers with 80-95 MPH swing speeds, the Dual Speed Technology in XXIO X will perform best.
What Is The XXIO Difference?
Normally brands are targeting high swing speed golfers. TaylorMade and Callaway promote clubs with professional tour players who swing the club a lot faster than your average golfer. XXIO is different. They offer golf clubs with real distance gains for moderate swing speed golfers. How do they do this? They have unique designs with the club head, shafts, and grips. Unlike the big US brands, the clubs are only trying to fit moderate swing speed golfers vs everyone. For example, the shafts are lightweight with balance points near the grip making the club easier to swing. All their shafts are manufactured by themselves in a state of the art facility in Japan. The shafts are very consistent as fewer than 10 in 1,000,000 were found out of spec. In America, you will find that stock shafts are usually made for watered down versions or not made by the golf club brand at all. Club heads are also finely tuned for the moderate golfer. The driver head is lightweight and about 20% lighter than any US brand. All this adds up to golf clubs that are exceptionally easy to swing, which launch the ball higher and farther.
What About The Price?
XXIO is a premium brand so the prices are higher than what you find from all the US Brands like Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping etc. However, their prices are the same as a Callaway or TaylorMade club in Japan. High end shafts are stock on US clubs in Japan vs the mass produced stock shaft in USA. The drivers are $650 and irons run from $1000 to $1200 for a 6 club graphite set.
