Need For Speed

Posted by Austin Chen on 14 Sep 2018

Speed is the name of the game this time around for Titleist's latest clubs. They made it their mission to solicit speed from every detail of the driver. Lets drive in the fast lane and see what all is under the hood of the new Titleist TS driver and fairway woods!

    Titleist Speed Chassis

    • Ultra thin titanium crown: Thinnest in the game allowing weight to be sifted lower and deeper.
    • Optimized weight distribution: Creates lowest CG ever for high launch and lower spin.
    • Streamlined shape :Reduces draft by 20%, increasing club head speed for more distance.
    • Thinner, faster face: Variable thickness face delivers faster ball speeds and increases forgiveness.

    TS2 Driver

    • Explosive distance across the face and maximum forgiveness
    • Offers adjustable swingweight, with low & deep CG.
    • The TS2 targets players looking for high launch, low spin distance, and forgiveness.
    • 460 cc Modern Shape

The TS2 features several design elements that contribute to making it significantly longer than the previous 917 D2 including an extremely thin titanium crown that’s approximately 20% thinner. This improvement saves weight and lowers and deepens the CG for improved launch and carry distance. As a result of the weight savings in the crown and variable thickness clubface the TS2 actually features the lowest CG of any Titleist driver to date. MOI has increased over the 917 D2 by as much as 12%. The  thinner clubface makes this the fastest of any Titleist driver thus far. The new face is actually so thin that the scoring lines needed to be created by a laser. Both drivers are now 45.5 inches instead of the Titleist standard of 45 inches in past models. If you’re looking for a combination of distance and forgiveness, the TS2 is right for you!

    TS3 Driver

    • Speed-tuned distance and dynamic forgiveness
    • Offers adjustable swing weight with SureFit CG
    • TS3 targets players looking for mid launch, low spin, and workability
    • 460 cc Traditional Shape
    • Order now for $499.99

The Titleist TS3 driver features the same thin titanium crown for lower and deeper CG location, thinner and faster clubface for more distance. There are differences however between the TS3 and the TS2. Most notably is the ability fo have more adjustability in the form of Titleist’s SureFit CG technology that allows for more specific spin rate and launch angle tuning. The TS3 also features a more traditional pear shape and tends to produce more of a mid-launch as compared to the TS2’s higher launch. For players who demand more workability in a driver and more specific tuning, then the TS3 is the driver to put in play. Both the TS2 and TS3 are available with a option of real deal shafts like the Kuro Kage Black Dual Core 50, Tensei AV Series Blue 55, HZRDUS Smoke Black 60, and Even Flow T1100 White 65 shafts. Additonal shafts options are offered.

    TS2/TS3 Fairway Woods

Both new TS fairway models have similar technologies as the drivers. This includes the including extremely thin crowns that are 27% thinner for lower and deeper CG locations, thinner clubfaces with variable thickness for more ball speed, distance and forgiveness on off center hits, and better weight distribution for higher MOI and stability. The TS2 and TS3 fairway woods feature an improved version of Titleist’s Active Recoil Channel technology in the sole, creating more face flex, particularly on low hits, yielding higher launching, lower spinning, longer shots.

There is a main difference between the two fairway woods. The TS2 fairway features a fixed CG location that’s low and deep for high launching, mid-spin shots while the TS3’s CG is more customized with the Titleist’s SureFit CG technology. The TS3 will give you a lower trajectory and the ability to shot shape. The TS fairways comes standard with a choice of Kuro Kage Black Dual Core 55, Tensei AV Series Blue 65, HZRDUS Smoke Black 70, and Even Flow T1100 White 75 shafts.
