PING Golf Shafts for a G430 LST Driver
Posted by Dallas Golf on 30 Dec 2024
The PING G430 LST is a large, 440cc driver that delivers accelerated ball speed and low spin for players that prefer straight, low, penetrating drives.
The G430 LST also boasts an ultra-lightweight “Carbonfly Wrap” composite crown that lightens the driver head, allowing saved weight to be reallocated so that the center of gravity can be lowered.
Along with this, it’s made with an optimized T9S+ forged variable thickness face that creates more deflection, generating higher ball speed for more explosive drives.
It also boasts “Spinsistency” technology thanks to a variable roll radius that produces less low loft, reducing spin, for longer, straighter drives with less dispersion.
Plus, you can shift the center of gravity thanks to a positionable 22-gram tungsten weight that enables you to customize the shot shape given the conditions and your swing bias.
All in all, there are few driver heads that offer such bleeding-edge performance paired with such personalization.
But, the question must be asked: which PING golf shafts are best for a G430 LST?
These are some of those the company itself recommends.
PING Alta CB Black 55
The CB in PING Alta CB stands for counterbalanced - the weight in these shafts is shifted towards the handle section, resulting in a more balanced design that suits larger, heavier clubheads - like the PING G430 LST - very well.
All in all, they produce the impression of a lower swing weight, giving golfers the ability to leverage more power through their swings, resulting in extra range.
But that’s not all the PING Alta CB offers: it also produces mid-launch performance and excellent consistency with respect to spin, enabling more golfers to drive farther with less shot dispersion.
PING Alta Quick
The PING Alta Quick is shaft optimized for low weight so that players that need a boost to clubhead speed can get it.
The lighter design benefits players with slightly slower swing speeds for this and another important reason: the launch profile is a bit on the mid-high side, so players that need a little extra launch to generate greater carry distance will probably appreciate these PING golf shafts.
PING Tour 2.0 Black 65
If you need a PING golf shaft that produces a mid-high launch paired with medium spin characteristics, then it’ll be hard for you to outdo a PING Tour 2.0 Black.
Perhaps slightly lower launching than the Alta Quick (all things considered) the Ping Tour 2.0 Black has been likened to the Fujikura Ventus - specifically the Ventus Black, which is interesting considering the shaft in question has a mid-high-mid launch/spin profile whereas the Ventus Black is universally hailed as a low-low shaft.
Either way, whereas the Alta CB and Quick will favor players with slightly slower swing speeds, the PING Tour 2.0 Black may offer better performance for those with slightly faster swings and stronger, more aggressive tempos.
It also offers exceptional consistency and most golfers comment on the smooth feel of the shaft - so if you need a mid-high launching shaft that doesn’t produce too much spin, and offers great sensitivity while still delivering long, straight drives - this is your PING golf shaft.
Mitsubishi Kai’li White 60
Now let’s pivot to a PING-recommended golf shaft for the G430 LST that is far on the other end of the spectrum: the Mitsubishi Kai’li White 60.
Whereas the first three PING golf shafts investigated have been decidedly mid-mid (generally), this Mitsubishi shaft is definitively low-low.
It features a medium-firm handle section paired with stiff tip and midsections, and produces low launch and low spin characteristics.
Stabilized by MR70 fiber for strength and stability, along with SLRC prepreg for a smooth feel and consistency, and designed to resist ovaling and deformation, this is a shaft that will deliver, even in the hands of the strongest players with the fastest swing speeds.
Without beating a dead horse, here’s what to know: this is the PING golf shaft for a G430 LST if you swing hard, swing fast, and need low, straight, penetrating drives.
Project X HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX 50
The Project X HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX 50 is another recommended shaft here that favors players with strong, fast swing profiles.
The Smoke Red RDX is a stiff shaft with low torque, designed to offer a low weight, that is great for generating higher club head speed, while remaining stable even in the hands of a player with an aggressive tempo.
But there’s a special note here: the Smoke Red RDX produces slightly higher launch and spin than the Kai’li White while still being optimized for players with a fast swing tempo.
So if those notes apply to you, then it’s a Smoke Red RDX you’ll want to pair with a PING G430 LST and not a Kai’li White.

Whether or not any of these will constitute a reasonably good PING golf shaft for you (and a G430 LST driver) is realistically not an easy question to answer unless you are already intimately familiar with your personal abilities and your swing mechanics. If that’s the case, use your best discretion; if it isn’t, work with one of our professional golf club fitters, we will do our best to suit you with a PING golf shaft that works best for you, personally.
