The Diamana TB: One of the Best Mitsubishi Shafts of 2024

Any list of 2024’s best golf shafts is bound to have some entries from Project X, Fujikura, or Autoflex golf shafts.

You know what other manufacturer is bound to appear on that list? Mitsubishi. Each year, highlights from Mitsubishi’s golf shafts lead the pack.

This post is going to focus on one of them - the Mitsubishi Diamana TB.

Often, highlights focus on super-stiff, ultra-high performance shafts like the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green or the Fujikura Ventus Black.

Not this time. This is a middle of the road, mid-launch, mid-shaft that’s actually designed to cater towards golfers with slightly more metered, smooth swing mechanics.

Here’s what you need to know about this gem from MCA.

Mid-Launch, Mid-Spin Performance

This Mitsubishi shaft boasts pleasant, calming, cool-blue aesthetics, but it’s about much more than that. It features a medium-stiff tip section, an ever so-slightly-stiffer butt section, and a stiff midsection.

All in all, this results in a Mitsubishi shaft that produces mid-launch and mid-spin characteristics. The medium butt and tip sections result in a smooth swinging shaft that offers excellent feedback and responds well to fluid, tempered swing mechanics.

This might not be the best shafts for players that really slog it, but rather for more middle-of-the-road players with slightly less aggressive swing tempos and slightly slower swing speeds.

Unlike some other ultra-performance golf shafts, the Diamana TB produces slightly higher launch angles and a bit more spin.

This is different from the ultra-straight, penetrating drives of other stiffer shafts. The Diamana TB gives you a little boost with a higher launch. That can equate to more carry distance.

Also, the slightly more amenable spin characteristics of this shaft will result in just a bit more lift and carry distance, which can be a boon for players with less than lightning-fast swing speeds.

Players with slightly slower swing speeds who were playing with stiffer shafts might feel the need to swing harder, resulting in straining. That, like higher launch and spin, can also cause excess shot dispersion.

But, with a shaft that is more amenable to their needs, the need to strain or swing harder evaporates. With the Mitsubishi Diamana TB, players with slower swing speeds can still reach out farther, without needing to try harder. It’s the best of both worlds.

A Boron-Infused, Yet More Active Tip

Another big selling point of these Mitsubishi shafts is the engineering behind the tip section. With a slightly more active tip section, the Diamana TB is engineered for forgiveness as well as for feedback.

But they don’t overdo it, because a tip that’s too sensitive might not close properly on impact, resulting in whacky shot errors that are not only hard to diagnose, but too inconsistent to rectify.

Not so with the Diamana TB, which also features a boron-infused design that fortifies the tip section.

Boron strengthens the tip, but it also improves durability and performance. To be specific, boron helps decrease torque, which results in a tip that’s more consistent and reliable without sacrificing sensitivity.

It’s not just the tip that’s been precision engineered for sensitivity, though. The rest of this Mitsubishi shaft has also been carefully refined for performance.

The whole shaft has been fortified with MR70 carbon fiber for strength, elasticity, and overall consistency, and Mitsubishi has constructed the whole shaft using MCA’s Xlink Tech Resin System.

This unique system allows the shaft’s fiber volume to be maximized without adding any unnecessary resin, dramatically enhancing strength, feel, sensitivity, and feedback, without the added weight and dead space of resin. Think of it like you get more carbon fiber for the money.

All in all, these Mitsubishi shafts are consistent, reliable, and optimal - provided you’re looking for a mid-mid shaft.

So, on that note, who would benefit most from one of these shafts?

Who Will Really Benefit from These Mitsubishi Shafts?

If you’re in the market for a mid-mid shaft and have been frustrated by other low-low shafts in the past - or just any shaft that’s ultra-stiff and swings like an iron rod - these might be good for you.

Namely, these Mitsubishi shafts are aimed at players that need a little more boost from their shafts in terms of launch and spin. Think players with slightly slower swing speeds. Players with faster swing speeds will also benefit, provided they have slightly more fluid, less aggressive swing tempos.

Want to Explore Other Mitsubishi Shafts or Work with a Fitter?

With all of this said, the only sure way to know if one of these Mitsubishi shafts is right for you is to work with a fitter. The Diamana TB is certainly not the only highlight from their lineup and there are many other forgiving (and highly aggressive, ultra-stiff shafts) in their catalog.

Contact us and speak with one of our professional golf club fitters. We’ll get to the bottom of which Mitsubishi shafts are best for you, whether or not that means a Diamana TB or some other.
