We Have Some of the Best Golf Shafts in the Game!
Posted by Dallas Golf on 02 Oct 2020
Your golf glove matters, and the club head you use matters. The golf ball you use when you are practicing and playing matters too. All of these things and much more matter, and each of them can have a pronounced impact on your performance.
The golf shaft you use matters too, although golf shafts don’t get all of the press time that some other equipment gets. However, as much as any other piece of equipment, the golf shaft you pair with your club head can markedly affect your abilities on the course.
No two shafts are created equal, and all of the defining features of a golf shaft will affect how it translates to performance in the hands of a golfer. There are a lot of players out there who will type in “What are the best golf shafts” in the hopes that they will get a quick and easy answer, but the truth is that it’s not so easy to define the best shafts.
Rather, the way you play and your unique attributes and strengths as a player will be affected by the construction and features of a golf shaft. Therefore, rather than saying that one or the other golf shaft is the best option, we can promote a number of them and investigate some of their features.
So, with no further ado, here are some of the best golf shafts in the game, as well as the unique features and traits they offer that can serve your skill set for the better.
Aldila NV 2KXV Blue 70 Graphite Shaft
Starting out our list of some of the best golf shafts is the Aldila NV 2KXV Blue 70 Graphite Shaft, which is available here at Dallas Golf Company in a range of flex options and built to suit an equal range of preferences.
This shaft, which is available in flexes of regular, stiff, and extra stiff, is great for players with swing speeds ranging from the middle of the road to high. Light and very smooth, this shaft is made with very thin carbon fibers that are strong, sensitive, and consistent.
Considering its stiffness ratings and because it is very light, this is a high-performance shaft that even professionals can appreciate. On the stiffer end, this shaft can enable players with high swing speeds to really put power behind the swing.
Plus, with its mid kick point and relatively low torque ratings, this shaft allows for great feel through the swing and in contact with the golf ball.
Fujikura Speeder Evolution V569 Graphite Shaft
Fujikura, like Aldila, is one of the premium players in the market for the best golf shafts around, and their popularity precedes them. A shaft like this one, which is also available in a range of stiffnesses, is great for a number of players with different skill sets.
This graphite shaft is available in stiffnesses from regular through extra stiffness, with a special rating as “stiff/regular” to serve the middle ground between these to stiffnesses. It’s lighter than the shaft above, with a higher torque rating as well, which means all things considered this shaft is more flexible. Some players might appreciate the extra flexibility, especially as it can make the shaft more forgiving, so this is something to be aware of.
As this shaft has a somewhat lower kick point than the shaft above, it can give the ball a higher trajectory, which some players might prefer. All in all, it’s a great pick from Fujikura’s lineup, and if you’re looking for a light, forgiving shaft, then you might want to pair one of these with a “regular” rating with one of your club heads.
Project X Even Flow Max Carry 65 R-Flex Graphite Shaft
From Project X, the Even Flow Max Carry 65 R-Flex is a very lightweight shaft with a low kick point and a high torque rating. In addition, this shaft is only available here in a “regular” stiffness rating, so this shaft might not be suitable for players who have high swing speeds.
Though there are some who might not call this a higher performance shaft, it is well designed to suit the needs of those who need a lightweight yet tough shaft that is forgiving and accommodating. Given its regular stiffness and high torque ratings, this is a flexible shaft that will feel more forgiving.
At the same time, its low kick point will enable some golfers to achieve more “loft” through their swings, which can be very valuable for some players who want to be more precise with ball placement. The higher you can hit the ball, the more easily it will stop when it comes down.
That doesn’t make this shaft perfect for everyone - in fact, there are only some players for whom this shaft would make a good match - but if you need a relatively flexible, forgiving shaft, this might be a good choice.
Graphite Design Tour AD XC 5 Graphite Shaft
This graphite shaft from the aptly named Graphite Design brings a slightly different level of performance to the table from the shaft mentioned immediately previously. Unlike the Project X above, this shaft has a high kick point and is available in much higher stiffness ratings.
Although it is relatively light - somewhere in the same ballpark as the above option - and has middle-of-the-road torque ratings, one of these shafts with an extra stiff rating would be well suited to a player with a high swing speed. It would also enable the player to drive the ball far, with a low trajectory.
Then again, if you aren’t so sure you want the higher end performance of a stiffer shaft, you can get this shaft in a regular stiffness, where its lightness and medium torque rating will not fail to impress you. Not only will the lesser weight accommodate a lower swing speed, so will a shaft of lesser stiffness, making this one more suitable for those who need help improving their range. Plus, the higher kick point will give golf balls a flatter trajectory and might even make it possible for you to reach farther.
Mitsubishi Fubuki J-Series 80 X-Flex Graphite Shaft
The Mitsubishi Fubuki series shafts are some of the finest shafts available to modern golfers, combining various technologies into a high-performance shaft that can meet the needs of a variety of players.
This particular model, which is available only on an extra stiff rating, has a relatively high kick point, a low torque rating of 3.2, and tips the scales at 84 grams. For a graphite shaft, this thing is impressively stiff and solid. Its stiffness, high weight, and low torque come together in a package that is well suited for experienced players with a highly-refined swing that is also high speed.
Fast, strong, and powerful, experienced golfers will love the precision this shaft allows them. There is little flex, the shaft is smooth through the swing and allows for a great feel. It’s the kind of shaft you can use to improve your range and accuracy.

Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Black Dual-Core Tini 55 GraphiteShaft
The Mitsubishi Kuro Kage line of golf shafts has a lot to love, including innovative technology and improved designs. This particular shaft is available in stiffnesses from Senior through Extra Stiff, which suits it well to a lot of different players.
For example, on the more flexible end of the spectrum, these shafts have a high torque rating of 6.5, whereas it diminishes to 4.5 on the other end of the spectrum. There is less variance in the weights of the shaft ratings, from 53 grams on the low end to 59 on the high end. Additionally, this shaft comes with a mid to low kick point, regardless.
What does it all mean? Well, depending on your preferences as a golfer, more than one thing. Golfers who have medium to high swing speeds may appreciate the feel of this shaft; though it is fairly light, it can be made extra stiff, and at the same time, the lower kick point means you can get a higher angle from your swings, which can help you with accuracy.
They’re smooth and tough; if these features appeal to you, this Mitsubishi Kuro Kage might be a good match for your skill set.
Graphite Design Tour AD DI-5 Black Graphite Shaft
Here’s another Graphite Design shaft on our list that is notable more for its forgiveness than for its high performance. Nonetheless, there are golfers out there who will find a lot of use for a shaft like this.
It’s available in stiffness from Senior through Stiff, and it’s also fairly light, with a low torque rating and a middle of the road kick point. It’s not geared too far one way or the other for performance or forgiveness but offers a little bit of both. It’s the type of shaft that you can practice to refine your swing for accuracy and distance.
For example, it’s middle of the road stiffness ratings paired with its equally middle of the road kick point mean you can get better at honing in your swing; you won’t be able to hit the ball too high, but you shouldn’t be frustrated by exceedingly low trajectories, either.
True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 Steel Shaft
True Temper calls itself “The #1 Shaft in Golf,” and though all of the other shafts in this article are graphite shafts, we couldn’t write the whole thing without bringing you one of the finest picks in steel from True Temper.
There was a time when more shafts were made from steel, but steel’s high weight, high stiffness, and low forgiveness can make it frustrating for some players to deal with it. It’s rarely if ever accommodating in the same fashion as a well-engineered graphite shaft.
However, a well-made steel shaft, like any of those from True Temper, is a marvel of performance and in the right hands can offer some of the best results out there. They are miraculously tough, very stuff, and highly precise. That’s why some players simply love them.
These True Temper shafts are extra stiff, with a standard torque, and, interestingly, a high kick point. They also come in at 133 grams, which means that players with high swing speeds can exhibit a lot of control and exert a lot of power through the swing.
Mitsubishi DiamanaDF-Series 50 Graphite Shaft
Available in Regular, Stiff, and Extra Stiff, this Mitsubishi shaft comes with a unique set of features that make it suitable for players who need to get the most of the distance they can with their swing speeds.
It has a mig to high kick point that works along with the stiffness to produce lower trajectories and potentially greater differences, regardless of your swing speed. If you have a higher swing, you might like the extra stiff version, whereas if you have a slower swing you might like the regular stiffness for its more forgiving nature.
Regardless, if you’re looking for a shaft that can help you reach out farther, there’s a chance you’ll do well with this one.
This is nothing more than a sampling of some of the golf shafts you can find here on our website. By no means are these the only shafts that one might call the “ best golf shafts ”.
